File Ingestion

File ingestion is the process by which files are added to the system. There are a number of ways to add files, but the most common way would be using the Ingest Manager. This is an easy-to-use drag and drop manager. Other more involved ways can make use of a watch folder with custom logic or even using the TACTIC API.

Ingesting files is the action of adding files to the TACTIC repository. This is often done in using the Ingestion Manager. It provides a simple to use interface to drag and drop files into TACTIC.

There are various places where files can be uploaded.

Keywords

Keywords are used for searching. Although the search engine can be used to find assets through more targeted queries, keywords are a great way to find assets when researching through a library of finished assets. Process

This is process of the workflow that the files will associated with. This allows TACTIC to organize files according to where in the workflow they were uploaded. Normally, this value will automaticaly set by the application when someone is working on a task. A project manager working ingesting files into from a job will need have to select a process to check into.

Determine how the file maps to a particular item

When a file is uploaded, it will either create a new asset or try to find a corresponding asset and add a new version of the file. It will map will attempt to map the file name to the corresponding asset for uploads that are a new version.
